didn’t get enough dancing last week? oh, local news has got you covered.

as a kid, instead of going to a variety of places for vacations, we went to socal pretty much every year. thus i have known since childhood that LA has some crazy amazing local news antics going on. but it’s nice of mark thompson to reaffirm this for me.

more here and here.

words can’t express how much i love this.

in case you were wondering who our tumblr icon was, it’s jessica savitch, seen here in her 70s local news glory. she was a trailblazer for women in news who led a fascinating and ultimately tragic life. check out “almost golden” for a very interesting read about jessica and news history in general.

bill bonds may be our patron saint, but jessica is our hero.

in honor of two kare 11 news items we found out about today: the untimely passing of sven sundgaard’s pet goat (rip abby :( ) and the unfortunate news that we will have to see more of eric perkins on the weekends, we found it only too appropriate to post kare 11’s biggest tragedy of all… this mesmerizing, haunting trainwreck of a promo.

further proof that minneapolis is the capital of awkward local news.
